It was among the first of its kind. Now the mechanism is in place to make the improvements to allow it to continue to be among the best of its kind, while also taking a step to acknowledge the man whose vision made it possible in the first place. More than 15 years ago, the Pittsburgh Steelers Jerseys partnered with UPMC Sports Medicine and the University of Pittsburgh, and the result was the kind of practice/training facility that became the model for all others that were built thereafter. During a news conference this morning, the Steelers and UPMC Sports Medicine announced a 15-year extension on the original 15-year deal, and in the process agreed on a renaming of the facility, now to be known as the UPMC Rooney Sports Complex.

“The alliance between a major medical institution with its sports medicine capacity and a championship football team in the Pittsburgh Steelers Jerseys is very much the vision of Dan Rooney,” said UPMC President and CEO Jeffrey Romoff. “It was his vision 15-20 years ago along with Dr. Freddie Fu that created what, as (Steelers President) Art (Rooney II) pointed out, was entirely unprecedented. And basically it spelled the future for the way sports – professional sports and college sports and amateur sports – are handled in this modern age.” The Steelers didn’t have their own practice facility during their time at Three Rivers Stadium, and when the weather became a serious issue, the only indoor options available to the team were Pitt’s Fitzgerald Field House or what was nothing more than some carpeted concrete at the David L. Lawrence Convention Center. Heinz Field was set to open for the 2001 season, and the year before that the Steelers first moved into the practice facility they have shared with the Pitt football team from the start. Actually, in 1999 Coach Bill Cowher started the process of having the players board buses at Three Rivers Stadium and ride over to the city’s South Side so his team could have the luxury of practicing on a couple of natural grass fields, and by 2000 the rest of the facility had been opened and was fully operational.

“It’s been a great partnership in all ways, and so that’s why we’re excited to be able to continue it, and enhance and improve our facilities,” said Art Rooney II. “When we moved into this facility, I think it was one of the first of its kind in the NFL, and today almost every team has something similar. So it set the standard for what training facilities in the NFL would become. Now we’re looking forward to expanding and improving the facilities.” The improvements on tap for the upcoming offseason include an expansion of the weight room and training facilities. Art Rooney II estimated the expansion will add approximately 5,000 square feet to the existing structure.

“The major piece of the puzzle will be an expansion of our training facilities on the first floor, which will include an expanded weight room and conditioning room,” said Art Rooney II. “We’re probably going to be able to add a little over 5,000 square feet to the workout facility on two floors. There will be some other improvements to the hydrotherapy area, as well as some in the indoor practice facility. We’re really excited about it. Our winning percentage since NFL Authentic Jerseys moving here in 2000 is .642, and so it’s been a great place for us to work and train.”

All along, the idea of the Steelers practicing and playing on natural grass was of paramount importance to Dan Rooney, who still believes that surface is the best one for the well-being of the players. He regularly rebuffed any and all suggestions to install artificial turf at Heinz Field, and the two grass practice fields outside what now will be known as the UPMC Rooney Sports Complex are maintained meticulously year round by members of the team’s playing surface staff. It was this level of commitment to the players that led to the renaming of the facility.

“We’re thrilled with the name change and proud that the complex now will be known as the UPMC Rooney Sports Complex,” said Art Rooney II, “and I just want to make sure we understand which Rooney we’re talking about when we refer to that.”

Said Steelers Chairman Dan Rooney, “I want to thank Jeffrey and UPMC Sports Medicine for their help and involvement in the effort we are making to take care of our football players. The Steelers have used UPMC Medical Health System for a long time. Our football players have been cared for by the great medical staff at UPMC for many years. The changes we are making are being done for the players’ needs. The treatment they receive every day is excellent, and they will continue to receive that same care. The players are the reason we are making these changes, because we want these facilities to be the best in the NFL. I want to thank Jeffrey Romoff and UPMC for making these improvements possible.” The physical expansion of the facility and the improvements made within the structure are only part of the partnership between the Steelers and UPMC. The convenience of having sophisticated examination, diagnostic, and treatment options within walking distance is another layer to the care of the players that Dan Rooney long has championed.

“Injuries and injury prevention and the science of concussion and the science of taking care of people have been pioneered here at this sports medicine Jets complex. It has been and will be the vision of Dan Rooney,” said Romoff.

According to Art Rooney II, the expansion and improvements to the existing building will take place over the course of the upcoming offseason. He said the work is to be finished by the time the players return from training camp at Saint Vincent College next summer. The cost is estimated at $10 million, with that to be shared by UPMC and the Steelers.

“We have a little bit of a tight site here,” said Art Rooney II, “so we have to squeeze a few things into the land we have, but I think it will work well.” CONCUSSION RESEARCH
“Right down the street now, we have the largest concussion clinic in the country,” said Art Rooney II. “UPMC sees more concussion patients than anywhere else in the country, and so the research they’re able to do because of that is very important. We’re excited to be a part of that and excited to be able to continue to work with the professionals at the Concussion Clinic on understanding the injury, and most importantly, understanding how to treat the injury. They’ve made great strides over there, and we look forward to being able to help them continue that research.”

Supporting that contention was the fact nearly 30 leading, independent concussion clinicians and researchers from around the United States convened at UPMC on Oct. 15-16 to propose standard guidelines on the best practices, protocols and active therapies for treating concussions today. For the first time in the relatively infant science of concussion, U.S. experts came together to discuss what the UPMC organizers call Targeted Evaluation and Active Management (TEAM) Approaches to Treating Concussion. Representatives from the National Institutes of Health and the U.S. Department of Defense, among others, also participated.

“Our players have access to the treatment that available right down the street, and as Dr. Micky Collins, the Director of the UPMC Concussion Clinic, will tell you, they feel strongly that active treatment, McFaddens as they call it, is the way to proceed,” said Art Rooney II. “It is a change in NFL Authentic Jerseys what was traditionally thought to be a treatment that required a lot of rest and staying in a dark room. The conference that was here in October addressed the idea that active treatment is something that is becoming the norm in concussion treatment, and we’re looking forward to continuing to partner with them on researching how that should be rolled out across the country and making sure athletes around the country have access to that kind of concussion treatment.”

His playing time hasn’t been what he envisioned throughout his rookie season, but Cameron Erving hasn’t changed his mentality.

Since the day he arrived in Cleveland, Erving has been reluctant to pigeonhole his strengths to one position. He called himself an offensive lineman who was Washington ready and willing to adapt to whichever position the Browns coaches think he’ll best help the team.

On Sunday in Pittsburgh, it will be left guard, a spot vacated by the injured Joel Bitonio Jerseys. It just so happens to be the position at which Erving has seen the least amount of work during previous weeks of practice, but the first-round pick from Florida State didn’t seem fazed in the slightest.

“I’m a football player, and I like to play football so I’m going to put everything I have into what I’m playing that week or what the team needs me to do,” Erving said. “All of those questions, honestly, are irrelevant to me. I’m just going to go out and I’m going NFL Jerseys Cheap Authentic to play football, regardless of what position I’m at.”

Bitonio, a cornerstone of the Browns offensive line for the present and future, injured his ankle during last week’s first half. He headed to the locker room for halftime early but returned to the game for the second half. Erving played the final nine snaps in his place.

Browns coach Mike Pettine did not provide a specific timetable for Bitonio, who will “potentially be down for a while.”

Though his playing time has been minimal, Erving has received constant praise from the offensive line’s starters. They’ve liked what they’ve seen behind the scenes.

“I think he is ready,” left tackle Joe Thomas Jerseys said. “I am excited to see what he can do out there in a full game. He got a little bit of a taste last week. This week if he is the guy I am sure he will be getting the majority of the reps in practice. That is a big part of getting ready for Sunday is getting those reps in practice. I am excited to see how he does. I think he will do a good job.
cheap-authentic-nfl-jerseys-from-china

“He has shown that he can be a good player already from what we have seen in training camp and at practice. Now it is time to do it on a big stage against our biggest rival.” Erving began his college career on the defensive line, switched to offense, where he flourished as a left tackle and, because of a number of injuries and his versatility, finished at center. When he arrived in Cleveland in May, he promptly received a heavy dose of snaps at right guard, left tackle and center. His focus was honed on right guard NFL Jerseys From China during training camp, but veteran John Greco Jerseys ultimately retained his job, relegating Erving to a sixth man of sorts.

The frustration would have been understandable, but Erving knew his chance for extensive playing time would eventually present itself.

“I’ve kept my faith and I’ve stayed rooted and know New York Jets that my time was going to come,” Erving said. “I didn’t get picked in the first round for nothing. My chance is going to come so I’m just being patient, and this is the first opportunity of many.”

The Browns got burned without a reliable sixth offensive lineman last season after center Alex Mack Jerseys went down with a season-ending injury before the midpoint of the schedule. Erving said he’ll lean on Thomas and Bitonio to ensure the Browns won’t have the kind of dropoff in performance that’s typical with an offensive line losing a cog as key as Bitonio.

“It’s just about preparing yourself each week to the best of your ability, knowing that you might play, knowing that you might not play,” Erving said. “It’s a lot of uncertainty there, but I’ve done a good job, I feel like, and a lot of guys have commended to me on the job I’ve done of just being prepared when the time comes.”

Hey Hobs, Love the column!! Been reading Bengals news remotely since the early 90s after my family moved away. I can’t remember the weekly newspaper that used to come out, but I got it mailed to New Hampshire after we moved away from my beloved Bengals and have been an ardent fan of the way you have taken questions for years. I wondered if you cared to revisit the preseason prediction that you put together and reforecast the end of the season? I see a 5-3 finish and 13-3 at this point. What’s in your crystal ball at the halfway point, Hobs? Adam Ellis, Seattle, WA

ADAM: Thank you for the kind note and no doubt you are referring to Bengals Report. In our very midst we have the man who was the blood and guts of that very paper at the creation in Bengals assistant public relations director P.J. Combs.

I called 11-5 and really whiffed on the first half of the season at 5-3. But I did predict they’d go unbeaten at home and I’m going to stick with it. There are tough road games left at Arizona and Denver, and Cleveland won’t be a day at the beach because I imagine they’ll have back all the guys that were hurt on Thursday and the Bengals haven’t swept them since 2011. Plus, the Steelers are going to be loaded for bear at Paul Brown Stadium on Dec. 13.

All that said, I like the 13-3 call, although I’ve got a hard time seeing them losing three on the road and any at home. But it’s a funky finish with back-to-back out-of-time-zone games in San Francisco and Denver before the finale at home against Baltimore. So put me down for 13-3 just because the league gets very weird in December. But 14-2 sounds about right, too.

Hi Geoff, Am seeking your unique insight and access to relieve an area cheap jerseys of concern that keeps me from feeling more comfortable as we head down the stretch; namely our linebacking. I was very worried when I saw Vontez limp off the field Thursday night; is there any chance he re-injured his knee seriously? And I’m still wondering about the (near) total absence of P.J. Dawson. I know the other LB vets have much more experience than he, but I would love to see Dawson and Burfict in tandem! Any chance of this happening this season. Thanks. Dave Christman, Oxford, OH

DAVE: Since Tez came back after he got hurt in the first quarter and ended NFL Shop Cyber Monday up playing four more snaps (40) than he did last Sunday in Pittsburgh, the hunch is he’s OK.

Dawson, the third-rounder out of TCU, plays the WILL, the same position as Burfict and Vincent Rey Jerseys, two extremely reliable guys. Dawson not playing tells me the coaches don’t think he’s ready yet to handle all that is entailed in the positon so that he can give those guys a breather on a consistent basis.

They knew when they drafted Dawson that he was a little raw when it came to practice and preparation but that he played like hell on Saturdays. My sense Bills is once they’re comfortable that he can execute his assignments, he’ll be out there but I don’t know when.

Mr. Hobson, Always a pleasure to read the words of a future Hall of Fame Writer! My question – How in heavens name did Tez come back after all that time off and not miss a beat — and is he the x-factor that will Cowboys takes us to an undefeated season and a Super Bowl victory! George Hiotis, Zanesville, OH

GEORGE: Thank you for the kind words. It’s enough of an honor just to vote for the Hall-of-Famers.

Tez certainly does make a difference, doesn’t he? You are certainly on the right page. We’ve been asking his coaches and teammates the same thing for the last week. They keep coming back to his superior football intellect. And, from what I can see from four years of watching him, his helmet is like Superman’s cape. Once he puts it on he’s a different guy and he plays with out-of-this world passion and heart. And you obviously have to give props to the training staff, anchored by Nick Cosgray in rehab and head trainer Paul Sparling. Hey there Mr. Hobson, as much as I respect the play of veteran tackle Eric Winston, why didn’t Jake Fisher get the start as he is part of the future? Also I know it is a little early to ask, but in the first round of this coming years draft do you think the Bengals will hit D-Line or something else? Thank you for letting us ask questions! Brandon E., Springfield, OH

BRANDON: Thank you for writing.

The Bengals have a tremendous luxury of being able to turn to a guy like Winston on the bench and keep their title hopes alive without putting the burden on a rookie. This is a great spot for Fisher. He doesn’t have to be force fed before he’s ready and the transition from Oregon’s spread to the NFL has been quite an adjustment. Yet Fisher has received good work and shown a lot of improvement as the extra tackle in the six-man offensive line sets while being slowly worked into the mix. I think it’s a sign of how championship-deep they are.

The recent past indicates they’ll take the best player at that spot and we’ll have to see where they’re picking. They’ve targeted premium first-round positions such as D-tackles, O-tackles, and cornerbacks. But if they’re picking, say after No. wholesale jerseys 25, that’s basically a high second-round pick and I’d imagine that would open up their options. Who Dey Mr. Hobson! & thanks for the great info through the years. As the Bengals march toward playoffs and prepare for cold weather games, I suspect we will see more emphasis on the running game. Geo looks great in runs and catches, but what is wrong with Jeremy Hill Jerseys? He simply isn’t the same as last year. JH looks very tentative in what he wants to do and direction he wants to run. JH seems as if he wants to run more like Geo shifting and zig zagging instead of plowing into people. Is he afraid of fumbling? Is he hurt? He just seems to want to avoid contact. We need JHill for the stretch run. How does he get back on track? Larry Plumb, Union, KY

LARRY: Thanks for the note. I think we began to see the emphasis Thursday night, when they ran it a season-high 37 times. But it is going to be dictated by weather and defenses because they seem pretty set on taking what defenses give them. For instance, Cleveland was ranked last against the run and Houston comes in here with a defensive coordinator, Romeo Crennel, known for playing the Bengals with a tough Cover 2 that they have dented in the past with the run. But, if they think they can spread people out (Pittsburgh and Baltimore), they obviously have shown much more confidence in the pass game than they have in the past.
buy-nfl-jerseys-wholesale

But with two December games in Cincinnati (Pittsburgh and Baltimore) and one in Cleveland, yeah, they’ve got to run it. Hill sounds healthy, looks healthy, and hasn’t fumbled since Week Two. There is some thought that he’s trying to get it all back with one big run instead of banging for it in chunks. And, I think with his three longest runs of the season there have been signs the last two games he’s about to have a break-out game.

Hello! Always enjoy reading your articles, thank you so much for keeping NFL Shop Cyber Monday us up to date on the Bengals. Keep up the amazing work as always. It’s so great to be a Bengal fan right now obviously being undefeated at 8-0 (3 divisional game wins too!). It seems like a broken record, but this team seems to just ooze with that “It” factor in overcoming past weakness and playing up to their potential (being down in the 4th quarter, beating division rivals, primetime games etc.). Looking over the schedule there presents a few challenges, but my question is in route to competing with New England and Denver for a first round bye, which games do you personally look to be a true test for this team, and when talking to the players how confident does this group feel? The big showdown looks to be at Denver December 28th (Monday night game to top it all off) but at Arizona is going to be a test for sure. I love the confidence this team has shown so far. Who Dey! Isaac Coffman, Columbus, OH

ISAAC: Thank you for your kind note. You’re right. It would have to be Denver in Denver on Dec. 28 in the next to last game of the year with that terrific defense. You have to feel Sunday’s game in Indy is a lot different if that’s a Mile High. But it’s also a very winnable game for the Bengals. Pass protection is one of their strengths and they know they can beat Peyton Manning after they picked him four times here last December.

And, you’re right, Arizona is a bear out there and it’s a short week that includes Friday travel to Phoenix. That’s a tough one on many fronts. Plus, they’ve got PBS games with the Rams (Nov. 29) and Steelers (Dec. 13) that are going to be a handful. You know Ben will be back and no doubt they’ll be playing to survive. And as old friend Mike Zimmer reminded us after his win over St. Louis Sunday, the Rams have an extremely physical and aggressive defense.

But, no question, these guys are playing with tremendous confidence. It is apparent late in games when they trail. And those come-from-behind wins in Baltimore and Pittsburgh should help their mind frame in Arizona and Denver. Hey Hob! How do you see the roll of returner changing over the second half of the season? With the speed that Marvin J is showing is it an option to ever see him returning a punt? Dusty Kehoe, Washington D.C.

DUSTY: No. They’re never going to use one of their starting wide receivers in that role. I think they’ll keep it going with what they’ve got with Adam Jones Jerseys and Brandon Tate Jerseys. Since they’ve been using that tandem, they’ve been a top 10 punt return team.

Who Dey! Thinking about the beginning of the year when Marvin Lewis said he would walk away if the Bengals win the super bowl and hand Mike Brown the trophy. That would be a perfect spot for Hue Jackson if that happened. Hue will certainly be a hot commodity based on what he has done in this year and his impact on Andy Dalton Jerseys. I would hate to lose Hue to another team. Do you think Marvin is serious with the early season statement? Mark Reif, Urbana, OH

MARK: Everyone here is focused on Houston and not off-season planning, but they know the better the team plays, the closer scrutiny the coaching staff gets. That’s what happened two years ago when the Bengals lost both coordinators to head coaching positions.

But I do know this: the Bengals think very highly of Hue Jackson and have jumped to add him to the staff twice while also hiring him to do three different jobs on both sides of the ball in his latest stint here.

As for Marvin, it’s hard to know exactly what he had in mind when he made what he thought was a light-hearted comment at the equally informal training camp news conference. And it is equally hard to know what will be in his mind come next February. Marvin is a grinder and he enjoys the day-to-day work with the coaches, the players, and the organization. Your question is a fair one, but probably better suited for a later day. Hopefully late February.

As the Ravens seek playmakers in future weeks to make up for Steve Smith Jerseys Sr.’s absence, they made it clear they will take a hard look at wide receiver Chris Givens.

Givens has shown flashes of breaking out the last two weeks, and the Ravens want to get the speedster more involved in the offense.
buy-nfl-jerseys-cheap

“He’s starting to feel it a little bit,” Head Coach John Harbaugh said. “He and Joe [Flacco] are starting to develop something, an understanding for one another.”

Givens is coming off his best game as a Raven when he had three catches for 57 yards, including a 39-yard snag against the San Diego Chargers. He also could have hauled in a deep touchdown the previous week, but Flacco underthrew the pass and it was broken up in the end zone.

Flacco seems to be getting in sync with Givens, and trusting him in key situations. A back-shoulder throw to Givens jump-started Baltimore’s last drive NFL Shop Black Friday of the game Sunday, which ended up in Justin Tucker Jerseys’s game-winning field goal.

“That was a very good sign for us that Joe felt comfortable choosing him to throw a go-route to the right side of the field and then the back-shoulder throw on the go-route,” Offensive Coordinator Marc Trestman said. “That’s a good sign, and we’re optimistic that we can use that as a platform in the second half of the season.”

The Ravens traded for Givens in Week 5 after placing wide receiver Michael Campanaro Jerseys on injured reserve. They brought in Givens from St. Louis to add another speed threat to the offense, and Givens now feels like he’s getting in rhythm with Flacco.

“I’m definitely getting more acclimated and NFL Shop Black Friday more and more comfortable,” Givens said. “You can’t just come out when you get Injury traded and the timing will be perfect. I know we’re pros, Joe has an incredible arm and I have good speed, but it still takes time to get used to those things. But we’re getting better and better working on them each week. Our timing is just going to get better and better.”

Givens played more snaps last week than he has since 2013, and that number is only expected to rise. He could even play his way into the starting lineup alongside Kamar Aiken Jerseys because he has already matched Marlon Brown Jerseys’s receiving yards this year despite playing in half as many games.

The speed Givens brings to the table changes the way other teams defend the Ravens, and it also allows the offense to take advantage of Flacco’s big arm.

“I think he has done a great job when he has been thrown in there [of] not being afraid and going out there and playing full speed,” Flacco said. “And he’s just, in the moment, been really good. When you’re a good player, that’s usually what happens; you raise your game on Sunday that little bit, and it makes it easy Johnny for myself.”

Jaguars QB Blake Bortles talked about treating today’s meeting at MetLife Stadium “like a championship game.” The Jets’ idea was only to try to go 1-0 this week.
buy-cheap-nfl-jerseys-from-china

The Jets’ approach won out. The game started out pretty with two offensive TDs in the first quarter and strong defense against the run and in pass pressure. Then it turned gritty as the Jaguars hung around.

But in the end the Jets, banged up further with a few more injuries, were still sitting with the 28-23 victory that ended their first two-game losing streak under head coach Todd Bowles and lifted them to 5-3. The Jaguars fought hard but were not champions today, dropping to 2-6.

“We won. That was the biggest thing,” Bowles said after the game. “It was a good win against a gritty team, and we’ve got to move on.” The next opportunity will come quickly, as the Jets now head into Thursday night’s colorful showdown with head coach Rex Ryan’s Buffalo Bills at MetLife.

Here are 10 observations on today’s Salute to Service triumph:

1. Cro Turns on the Jets

Antonio Cromartie Jerseys has returned kickoffs over the years, and today it was time for him to do it again. He sped with the kickoff after the Jags’ first-drive field goal from left around to the right sideline for 54 yards to set up the Jets’ first scoring drive. It was the Green & White’s longest return this season and Cro’s longest since his rookie year of 2006 as a Charger.

2. A Clockwork Red Zone

Ryan Fitzpatrick Jerseys needed a target today, with Brandon Marshall Jerseys hobbling on ankle/toe injuries, and he found one in Eric Decker. A 25-yard Fitz-Deck connection set them up for their sixth red zone TD pass of the year, a 7-yarder off a Fitz roll right and a Decker route adjustment, that put the Jets on top, 7-3. 3. Lorenzo Erupts

Rookie LB Lorenzo Mauldin provided some proof of his growth process by being in on three Bortles sacks, all on third Cowboys down. The first two were split Patriots sacks, with the first forcing the Jaguars to settle for a Jason Myers field goal and the second pushing the Jags out of FG range early in the second. And his third — also his first full sack as a pro — came early in the third frame and forced another punt.

“I told myself before today that I was long overdue,” Mauldin said after being a pivotal part of the defense’s six-sack attack. “It was time to show the coaches and Jets Nation what I’ve got.”

4. Running Bottled Up

Neither side ran the ball well in the first half. For the Jets’ awakened run defense, No. 1 in the NFL in yards allowed/game, it was back to business as T.J. Yeldon was held to 9 yards on eight carries, although Yeldon got loose in the second half for a 45-yard run.

The Jaguars, No. 1 in yards allowed/carry, also lived up to that status by holding Chris Ivory to 14 yards on 12 carries at the half and 26 on 23 for the game. At least Ivory got free for a 9-yard end run that set up his sixth TD of the season on third-and-goal from the 1 to make it 14-3 — the Jets’ largest first-quarter lead in 12 games all-time vs. Jacksonville. 5. Kicking Issues

We might have thought we put them behind us after Ryan Quigley’s shin injury at New England. But Nick Folk came up with a quad injury in warmups that prevented him from kicking, so he and Quigley switched places. Folk held and Quigley did all the placekicking and punting. The kicking wasn’t bad (4-for-4 PATs, five kickoffs all into the end zone) but Quigley opened the game with a 30-yard punt. Then late in the second quarter…

6. Bad First-Half Ending

Quigley’s last punt of the half began an unfortunate series of events for the Jets as his 31-yarder was downed at midfield with 26 seconds to play. Bortles hit Allen Hurns Jerseys with two passes, 20 yards on the left sideline, then 30 yards on a look-left-then-throw-right as Hurns streaked past Cromartie for the score that made it 14-10, Jets, at halftime.

7. Cumberland Spark

The Jets offense was spinning its wheels and in need of a late-third-quarter jumpstart, and got one when Fitzpatrick found TE Jeff Cumberland for NFL Jerseys Supply a 44-yard completion to the Jags 17. That powered the hosts to Ivory’s reach-over 1-yard touchdown, his second three-foot TD of the game as the Jets opened their lead back to eight at 21-13.

“We scored off that play, so it was definitely a spark,” Cumberland said of his longest reception since Atlanta in 2013. “Anytime you get a big play, 44 yards, it’s a huge spark in the game. But it was a real team effort today.” 8. Big Takes Down the Stretch

It looked perilous for the Green & White as the Jaguars from their 10 to the Jets 10 with six minutes to play. But a holding pushed JAX back and then Calvin Pace turned in a huge defensive play, strip-sacking Bortles from behind, then recovering the loose ball at the Jets 34.

“That was a momentum changer,” CB Darrelle Revis said. “That was pretty big on Calvin’s part.”

Next up after a 3-and-out, the Jets needed some help — and Jags punt returner Nick Marshall obliged by muffing Quigley’s punt, with Kellen Davis, who had a touchdown catch last week, falling on the loose ball at the JAX 25. That set up Marshall time…

9. Brandon’s Big Finish

On third down after the muffed punt, Marshall, quiet most of the day, got past CB Davon House Jerseys, cradled Fitzpatrick’s 20-yard pass just above the plastic grass tops in the end zone, and got the TD (upheld on review) for a 28-16 lead with 2:41 to play. Then after the Jaguars scored quickly to cut it to 28-22, Marshall swallowed up the pop-up onside kick. 10. Marcus Magic

CB Marcus Williams, playing all over the secondary as Cromartie (thigh) and S Dion Bailey were nicked during the game, had a strong effort that included a half-sack, a first-quarter INT to set up the Jets’ second TD, and a third-down PD. Then he applied the coup de grâce that secured the win with the interception of Bortles throwing out of his end zone with less than a minute left.

“It was a play we needed,” said Williams. “We needed to stop them as soon as possible. All those plays Sewn NFL Jerseys were favorite plays for me, but we all made a lot of plays, and we left a lot of plays out there on the field as well.”

Now it’s hurry-up time to get the corrections in and the aches and pains out for the Bills, who rose to 4-4 with their 33-17 home win over Miami today.

On the Patriots defense…
“I think it starts with the fact that they’re really well-coached. You can tell that they’re disciplined, they’re smart. A big part of playing at this level is intelligence and experience, knowing what to do and playing fast. I see their ability to do that. That goes a long ways. I think they lead the NFL Chris Ivory in sacks so they do have a great pass rush. Chandler Jones Jerseys, I think, is the sack leader in the NFL. So I’m sure he’s going to be a name that if people don’t know him now they will soon. They do have some very dynamic players.”
– Redskins Quarterback Kirk Cousins Read
bulk-nfl-jerseys

“The physicality of their defense. Their linebackers are downhill. They have a good pass rush. Then, their secondary is physical. They get their hands on you. They re-route you and they give their pass rush time to get home. They have good safety help, good safety play. They’re sound against run. They’re just very good all around. Not a lot of weaknesses on defense. They’ve done it with a lot of different people, different years. Last year, they had [Darrelle] Revis back there, they lose Revis and they put Malcolm Butler Jerseys in there – he’s doing an excellent job. Then, the pass rush, linebacker play is outstanding.”
– Redskins Head Coach Jay Gruden Read

On Tom Brady Jerseys…
“I think he’s the GOAT – NFL Jerseys Cheap Authentic he’s the greatest of all time. He’s done it for a reason. I have really only talked to him once but I did tell him the one time I talked to him, ‘I study you, you do it at the highest level.’ So he’s kind of set the standard for all of us to follow. It’s a high standard to meet. That’s the goal, certainly, every year, every offseason, to work and to prepare to NFL Jerseys Cheap Authentic try and play at the level he does week-in and week-out.”

“His decision making is always top-notch. He’s an excellent player, there’s no question about it. I don’t really anticipate him throwing any balls to us. If we want an interception, we’re going to have to make some great breaks on the ball. We’re going to have to get some hands up and get in the passing lanes and try to get some deflections. They’re possible, but he’s not going to hand us any. We’ve just got to go out and make some plays.”
– Redskins Head Coach Jay Gruden On trying to stop Rob Gronkowski Jerseys…
“Well, I think it’s going to be a group effort. You can say you want to double him and do all this stuff, but if you double him, you leave the other guys one-on-one. I think it’s going to be man-on-man in certain situations. Our guys are going to have to step up, whoever is on him, and compete for the football. Rob Gronkowski Jerseys, he’s like a great basketball player; Steph Curry, LeBron James, he’s going to get his points. You’ve just got to make sure they don’t kill you. We’ve just got to try to limit his big plays and when he does get the ball we get some people around him and try to force some turnovers and go ahead and play.”

On playing the Patriots…
“We’re going against the Super Bowl champs at their home field with their home crowd. All odds are against us. We don’t really care too much about that. People in this locker room, coaches, we have a game plan and we’re going to execute it. What better feeling then to go out and beat the Super Bowl champs. That’s how we look at it.”

On stopping the Patriots offense…
“We got to step our game up as a D-Line and get to [Tom] Brady as quick as possible. Our main focus is stopping the run because for the last 3 or 4 weeks that’s been our nemesis. We knock the run out and make them one dimensional then I think we’ll be ok.”

Coming off of this week’s bye week, the Bills will return to practice on Monday and focus on playing three consecutive AFC East games to start the second half of the season.

It’s not the record anyone expected at the bye week. Not for Bills players or coaches. Especially not for Bills fans.

“Expectations are high,” Head Coach Rex Ryan told the media seven weeks ago, before the season opener against the Colts. “We expect to win,” he said.

After the first seven games the Bills have come up short versus the Cheap NFL Jerseys China expectations, with three wins and four losses. Cowbys But the meat of the season lies ahead. And that’s what the Bills players and coaches will sink their teeth into when they return to work next week.

If the season ended today, it would be unusually early. But if it did, the Bills would be out of the AFC playoff picture. They are currently the eighth seed in the conference. But Buffalo is just one game behind the final playoff qualifier, the Steelers, who sit at 4-3.

The AFC has three unbeaten teams at 6-0, division leaders New England, Cincinnati, and Denver. The Colts lead their division at 3-4, NFL Justified and they’re currently the fourth seed. Buffalo needs to take aim at the current fifth and sixth seeded teams in the AFC.

The Jets are the fifth seed, with their 4-2 record. That’s only a 1 ½ game edge over Buffalo right now, and the Bills get two cracks at the Jets over the rest of the season. The sixth seed is Pittsburgh at 4-3, just one-game ahead of the Bills.

The key games left on the Bills schedule would seem to be the pair against the Jets, next week’s game against Miami (3-4), at Kansas City (2-5) and Houston (also 2-5).

Even with the Patriots firmly in control of the AFC East at this point of the season, the Bills four remaining division games remain critical. And the Bills will play three of those four AFC East games in a 16-day span, starting next week against Miami. Two of those three are on the road.

The three divisional games will set the tone for the final stretch of the season, but Rex Ryan says there’s more to be done than just win those AFC East matchups.
IF

“We’ve got to win a hell of a lot more than just Cheap NFL Jerseys China those division games,” Ryan said last Sunday after the loss in London. “We won’t talk about the three back-to-back-to-back. It’s got to be the next one. That’s the only way we’re going to climb back into this.”

Of course, Buffalo’s slow start means they have to stack up as many wins as they can of the nine remaining games, regardless of the opponent. And last year’s playoff show that it’s not how you start the season, but how you finish that determines whether you’re in the postseason tournament.

The Bills probably need to win seven of their remaining nine games to lock down a playoff spot. A 10-win season wouldn’t guarantee the postseason, but it would make it likely.

Last year, six of the 12-playoff qualifiers finished with a better record in their final nine games than they did in their first seven. With the anticipated return of several injured starters, that kind of turnaround could be in the cards for the Bills.

Last year, four of the 12 playoff qualifiers had records of 7-2 or better in the final nine. (New England, Pittsburgh and Green Bay 7-2, Seattle 8-1).

After back-to-back losses, and the disheartening defeat at the hands of the Jaguars last Sunday, it’s understandable that some Bills fans might be discounting their team’s chances of breaking the 15-year playoff drought.

But with more than half of the schedule remaining, it’s much too early to write off the 2015 season. That’s likely to be the message when the players and coaching staff assemble next week, following their first break since the start of training camp three months ago.
